Our readers thought that the character development was effective and added depth to the story. Interestingly, each character had major flaws that added twists and turns to the plot.\n\n<br\/><br\/>\n\nIn April the club had an extended discussion about Gayden Metcalfe\u2019s <em>Being Dead Is No Excuse<\/em>. Just about everyone concluded that the book was a funny, enjoyable read, providing lessons on how different cultures gather for funerals. Traditional recipes for foods that are usually brought to funeral observances were an added bonus. If we had thought about it ahead of time, we each could have chosen a recipe from the book to make and bring to the meeting.  \n\n<br\/><br\/>\n\nIn May the book is The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. For June we will read <em>Abandoned Homes: Vietnam Revenge Murders<\/em> by Frank Hopkins. That month the meeting will include lunch in a restaurant in Berlin, where we will discuss which books to read for the rest of 2025. September\u2019s book will be The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.\n\n\n<br\/><br\/>\nWe are looking for some new members to join this fun club. We meet once a month and have interesting discussions, great conversations, and delicious appetizers to share.
